  1. Everything you would usually eat, just take out the real meat, and replace it with fake meat. Some dishes you can make are...

-Pasta with tomato sauce and Nate's Meatless Meatballs

    -Subs with Tofurkey Deli Slices

-BLTs with Smart Bacon (veggie bacon)

-Stir fry, vegetables with Morningstar Farms Meal Starters Chik'n Strips

Good luck, remember the first 2 weeks are the hardest. Today is the point of my second week, and I can't really remember the taste of meat, and I don't really want any right now.

  3. If just a vegetarian not vegan you can still eat the same foods your family is eating just skip the dishes containing meat. You can still get plenty of protein by eating eggs, peanut butter, beans, tofu, ect.

Morningstar farms has veggie burgers, veggie sausage, bacon, and hot dogs in the freezer section of your local grocery store.

You can replace the meat in many dishes with tofu. It's especially good in any kind of stirfry.

Go to allrecipes.com and type in vegetarian recipes. They have tons and you can read reviews of people who have actually tried the dishes. Best of luck.

  4. So many great things to make and eat! I look to other cultures like India, Thailand, and Lebanon for inspiration and recipes. Try not to gain too much dependence on fake meats. They're easy and tasty, but very processed and some contain a lot of sugar. Maybe your parents could take you to an ethnic grocery store, so you could be adventurous with your cooking and get the whole family involved. Have fun with it and good for you for making this decision.

  5. Whatever your family is eating, minus the meat, plus a complimentary protein if you want to do the family dinner thing.

In soups you can use beans. (On salads, too!)

In stir-fries, tofu and tempeh are great.

Most dishes are very easy to convert, I think. It's only if the point of the dish is meat (say, roast turkey) that the substitutions are more involved.

You can make pasta dishes with little to no difficulty. Soups are very easy to make in general, just leave out any meat and use veggie broth.

  6. After dating a girl who was Mexican and Colombian i notice that a lot of dishes she made did not have meat in them, but were very good none-the-less. Here is a link with some great Veg. dishes that are very good.
