my fiance got divorced from her philippine husband in hong kong will the us recognize that divorce for getting her a k-1 visa? our i-139f petiton has been approved by the vermont office but when hong kong embassy sent her package of forms to her something in it about going to fpu anybody know any thing at all about these matters?

  1. The dissolution of her marriage has to be authenticated.  Surprisingly, there is a great deal of fraud in this arena.


  2. As long as she has a copy of the divorce, you guys are good to go. I too married a Filipina and had to provide a copy of my divorce.

  3. This is confusing...

    If she and her ex are both Phillipines nationals, they should get divorce at the Phillipines embassy in HK, not at the HK embassy.

    Her divorce decree must be authenticated by the authority in the Phillipines before submit it to USCIS.
