K.J Choi finally witnesses young South Koreans on different golf tours
K.J Choi is one of the most successful South Korean golfers on the Professional Golf Association Tour,
When the South Korean first started playing golf, it was something out of the box for him. He had never held a club in his entire life.
With so many talented golfers who belong to Asia, they are making a huge impact on the PGA Tour.
When Choi started playing golf at the professional level on the Tour, he used to be the sole South Korean figure on the American fairways. Without any moral support, he still managed to put South Korea on the golfing map by winning numerous titles on the
Tour.
Choi narrated his experience of holding the iron for the very first time and said that he still cannot forget the time he hit a golf ball with an iron.
Before he pursued golf as a sport, in an attempt to play baseball, Choi used to hit tennis balls with his self-made bat. He recalled his experience of hitting the golf ball with the iron as the moment that changed the course of his life.
The South Korean has won seventeen titles across the globe, which includes the Players Championship.
He has earned more than $27 million on the PGA Tour and was the first South Korean to join the PGA Tour.
Throughout his career, Choi has been the ideal whom young South Korean golfers look up to. His influence and impact on the sport in the country has encouraged numerous golfers.
Moreover, the women’s golf in South Korea is flourishing, there are many golfers on the ladies tour who have made their place in the top rankings.
Asian women have made their mark on the ladies tour, with sixty out of the top hundred women in the ranking being Asians. The current world number one golfer – Yani Tseng – is an Asian as well.
The tremendous potential that South Korea is coming up with, the country is on the verge of producing talent that is likely to follow the footsteps of Choi.
The Asian golfer, Choi, referred to the young golfers on the tour and said, “When I first started winning on the PGA Tour, they were in their teens, they were kids. And now they're here”.
