K J Tester’s Ardbeg Mentor crashes in his last race while M A Wallis's Lil Rusky bagged the Coral Champions Night Standard Final

K J Tester's Ardbeg Mentor, at the brink of his retirement, was the winner of Coral Champions Night Standard's Heat 3. The white and brindle dog’s trainer had his fingers crossed throughout the race, but unfortunately the hound finished fifth in Coral Champions Night Standard Final, his last race.
It was a lucky night for trainer M A Wallis’s Lil Risky, who with an outclass start, chased the lure with swift pace and won the purse.
The two-year-old, 7/4 favourite hound, raced from trap 2, railing with amazing speed.
During the race, he sprinted consistently, remaining at the middle position, and later when he came close to the finish line he placed himself in the lead.
Covering the 400 meter distance in 23.86 seconds, the young hound finished first impressively.
Oscars Blurr, a blue and brindle dog, was 4 ¾ lengths away from the wire when the winner crossed to achieve the purse.
Trained by J W Reynolds, the young hound had his sluggish start from trap 3. Even though he railed quite well later on, his slow start made him finish second.
Oscar Blurr, running on fast close to the wire, covered his distance in 24.24 seconds.
Trevi You Go, the 7/2 favourite, was 1 length behind when 14/1 favourite Oscar Blurr cleared himself out.
The black dog, Trevi You Go, got bumped in soon after he started and faced many difficulties during his chase.
Trainer P J Simmonds’s two-year-old proceeded from trap 6 and covered the distance in 24.32 seconds to finish third.
Trainer D Mullins’s Olympus Jack was a neck behind with a head to head competition with Trevi You Go.
The black hound, Olympus Jack, with a tremendous speed, railed through the dirt as trap 1 was opened.
The four-year-old covered the distance in 24.35 seconds and achieved the fourth position in the Coral Champions Night Standard Final.
Finishing fifth by 2 lengths was trainer K J Tester’s Ardbeg Mentor.
Though the black dog chased the lure with an outclass speed, he eventually got bumped in during 1 length.
The circumstances made the 4/1 favourite unlucky dog finish fifth in 24.51 seconds from trap 4.
The last one to finish the race by 4 ¾ lengths was the brindle dog, Southern Dooey.
The two-year-old, starting his slow speed race from trap 5, got baulked twice, once at 1 length distance and later on with 2 lengths distance.
Trainer C Allsopp’s Hound covered his distance in 24.89 seconds and finished sixth.
The race has not been lucky for Ardbeg Mentor who was proclaimed to be retiring after this race and regretfully trainer K J Tester managed to take just £100 back home.
The winner of the race, Lil Risky, won £1000 out of £1600 while Oscar Blurr, the runner-up, won £200 and the other position holders were presented with £100 each.
