I just ordered a K& N air filter for my Protege. I want to know if i will feel a difference in performance, MPG's(gas mileage) and how much of a horsepower/torque will i gain. By the way this is a replacement High flow performance air filter that goes in the stock air box.

heres the link to the filter http://www.knfilters.com/filtercharger.htm

  1. If you feel anything at all it would hardly be noticeable. Most people who buy the K&N filters that go in the stock filter box buy them because they last 100,000 miles until K&N recommends cleaning them, so you dont have to spend $15 every 14,000 miles. If your looking for performance you have to get a CAI or SRI and a good cat back exhaust.

  2. You will not notice any difference unless you drive with wide open throttle most of the time, your engine will ingest more dust though, K&N filters are somewhat less restrictive than factory filters, their filtering ability is the price you pay for this.

  3. NO, you won't feel the difference by just changing the filter. But you may gain a few horses. A few more MPG"s may be there though.

                                       "BRILLIANT"!!!!

  4. hi,,, the only difference you will feel is the savings you gave yourself by buying your last air filter ever.  but because your vehicle's air duck may have a restrictor in it,(if you didnt replace air duck with k&N ) you wont feel any difference in performance, mpg's or horsepwr. enjoy your cup of coffee due to the savings you made.

  5. You probably won't notice any difference other than the air intake being a little louder.
