  1. No way he gets that type of money.  Only starters like Zambrano, Zito, Hampton and Clemens ever received that type of $$ money.  Closers usually do not get crazy contracts.  Look at Gagne..bust and I'm still baffled by the Phillies giving all of that money to Lidge.  Its going to bite them in the ****.  Check out the the top 50 salaries in MLB.  Only Mariano is the only one on the list and that my friend is Yankee money.

  2. No, I'll guess 10 to 11 million a year. 5 year 55 million  with a club option for the next year or two at twelve million.

  3. No way he will get that money SPs dont even get that

  4. i don't think 100 million but he will most likely either re-sign with the Angels or he could go to a team that lacks a good closer like the mets (just an example)

  5. Will the Yankees need a closer next year?I think if the Yankees wanted him you never know what they will do.I think it is way too much for a closer but I also remember when baseball minimum wage was $50,000 a year. That really was'nt that long ago.You may have to look at the need first.Atlanta,St Louis.Texas,Arizona,La Dodgers and many more have had closer problems this year. The Braves have had the problem for 13 years on and off.If Arizona,St Louis and even Atlanta had F-rod they would be in first comfortably right now. There had never been an offensive giant like Arod in baseball.Look what he got.I dont think K-Rod will get 100 million but it depends on whos buying.I do think that CC Sabathia will set a whole new contract high for pitchers though.

  6. Who's his agent.  Who is desperate for a closer?

If a team could lock him up for the next 6 years, then yes he easily could get a $100 million contract.  If that contract is up in 2014, how will the $16 million compare then?  Many players will be making that kind of money by then.

He's about to set the all-time saves record.  You don't think some team with money to burn won't overpay on the front end to keep him around for the next 6 years?

And right, he pitches 1 inning a game.  Meaning he is responsible for at least 3 opposing team at-bats.  most players only get 3 or 4 at bats a game.  How is it different?  He holds opposing batters to a .186 batting average over his career.

Not completely ridiculous.  He may not get a $100 million contract.  But wherever he goes he's going to make at least $12-15 million a year.

  7. no 100 million, thats ridiculous.  I think they will look to resigning texeira before him so Frankie won't get that much money.

  8. In this baseball economy, you never know what's going to happen. I don't think any team would give him that kind of an offer, but K-Rod will likely get more than the $10 million he's getting from arbitration prior to the 2008 season and he actually lost that case against the Angels. The Angels have found a way to replace closers since Troy Percival left and Jose Arredondo could be an heir to K-Rod, much like he did with Percival. He'll likely get a similar deal close to Brad Lidge and Joe Nathan are getting, despite a record season. Here are some teams that has keen interest in K-Rod....

    - Milwaukee Brewers

The Eric Gagne experiment didn't work out and despite Salomon Torres success as a closer, you might think they need a closer to fill this team as a contender. Cincinnati gave Francisco Cordero big money to make the NL Central interesting and the Brewers could be contender with K-Rod closing.

    - Detroit Tigers

Another team prime for contention, the Tigers can pry away an Angels closer again (much like they did with Percival). The bullpen is a total wreck but K-Rod can stabilized all that if he can get a slim lead, which will happen more times.

    - San Francisco Giants

Brian Wilson is the top closer for the NL but his ERA has to be shaky at best. Wilson is better off as a setup man and let K-Rod do the closing, but the price might be high for the Giants. Manager Bruce Bochy is more keen on getting Trevor Hoffman due to their past in San Diego.

    - San Diego Padres

Hoffman is a Free Agent and his skill is deteriating. There is no one in the bullpen to step up and K-Rod could see more opportunity for slim lead in an weak Padres offense that's not going to get better.

    - Texas Rangers

Eric Gagne has a pretty decent season before he was traded to Boston. The price might be too high for K-Rod but owner Tom Hicks was never afraid to spend to win. Of course, who wants C.J. Wilson as their closer?

    - New York Yankees

Why would I put the Yankees on this list? Rivera is already the closer and he's doing well for his age. Then again, relievers deteriorate after 40 and the Yankees are looking at the best interest of the team for the future. He might be the most expensive set-up man around now that Joba is starting but he might pay off in the end.
