K. Srikanth topples Philip Joper Escueta in Men’s Singles third round of World Junior Championships
India’s K. Srikanth proved his supremacy as he has toppled Philippines’ Philip Joper Escueta in the Men’s Singles third round of the 2011 World Junior Championships, in Chinese Taipei, on Thursday, November 3.
The Indian showed his courage against Philip Joper and played an attacking game which earned him victory in straight games with a stunning margin. Srikanth showed no mercy to his opponent in both games and finished up the match by consuming a surprising
time of just 19 minutes in the court.
It was a completely one-sided match and the Indian showed that he has attained highest skills and is ready to jump into the bigger level. He remained miles ahead of his rival in the whole opening game and won it easily. The second game also finished in the
similar way as the Indian showed no mercy to his opponent.
In the opening set, Srikanth established a remarkable lead in the opening points by playing with precision. His impressive speed coupled with the attacking strokes spared no chance for his opponent to put up strong show. Until the break, the Indian maintained
a wonderful gap.
After the break, Srikanth continued his power-play and stretched his lead by displaying his impressive skills in all areas of the court. Philip Joper completely failed to match the standard of his opponent. The Indian took the game with a striking margin
of 21-9.
The start of the second game was interesting when Philip Joper geared up his speed and played well for few rallies. However, Srikanth took over the control of the game by increasing his speed at the net and started to dictate his opponent in all corners.
Until the interval, the Indian remained successful in taking a comfortable lead.
After the break, Srikanth progressed on the right track as he never slowed down the pace of the game. He played planned badminton and earned the second game with a convincing 21-9 score on the board.
The spirited Indian won the third round match in straight sets in just 19 minutes with a killing 21-9 and 21-9 margin on the score board.
