K I'm painting my room useing light pink and light brown. i was thinking of going light pink base then useing the brown on the trim of my windows, closet, and door, along with light brown curtains, and bedspread. But i am worried it will be too drab.

i love pigs and horses and my room is mostly decorated with them. thats why i went with the pink and brown.

i'v seen such cute rooms painted with polkadots and stripes that i am tempted to paint the base pink with the brown trim (maybe a thick stripe next to a thin one?), then do some big brown polkadots, with pink and brown curtains and bedspread. i'm not sure but I'm painting on June 1st so i need tips asap. plz help

  1. Definitely do not paint the trim and windows brown, stick with white for those or leave then as is.  I agree with the person who said top half pink, bottom brown.  You could even then add a thick horizontal stripe of white in the middle of the two other colors.

  2. hey, home skillet you know who this is....lol..

i definatly agree with the pink and brown though because of ur piggys and horses. but i think you shoud do pink with brown polka dots that would be so cute in ur room. but it may take awhile but stripes would look really cute too like big ones ... i would go with polka dots though

you should pick mine as ur best answer since im ur bestest friend...lol...

  3. With no offense meant, I wouldn't use those colors, though I know they are used together.

My opinion however in a practical sense, is that those two colors together, and the way you've described doing the trim work, I might do a horizontal line in the brown, similar to a faux chair rail, but the room will already be stimulating enough with just the colors and your accessories. I think to add stripes or dots would make it look tacky.

    Just my two "sense"

  4. I like the idea of adding the white into the mix, too.  And, definitely DO NOT do polka dots.  I think stripes are much more classy and interesting and easier on the eye.  I like the idea of doing various sizes of stripes.  I would paint the majority of the walls light pink (with random brown stripes here and there) and maybe one of the walls white (with pink stripes).  I would keep the curtains and bedspread lighter (maybe white - ok, with little pink polka dots - but only if you must).  :)

  5. whatever u do post a pic after u r done. i cant visualise it at all

  6. I think that you should paint the top half of your wall light pink, then the bottom half of your wall light brown.  Then paint the trim of your windows, closet and door white.  3 colours look best when decorating a room otherwise it will look too dull.  You need 2 neutral colours (white & brown) with another colour (pink) for best results.

For the bedspread I wouldn't go for just brown.  Choose something that isn't so dull but stays within your colour scheme.  A mixture of all 3 colours would be the prime answer, pick a pattern that has stripes (they look best).  If you can't find one you like I would buy either a light pink or white plain bedspread (pick one), then I would buy a few small coloured pillows (pick colours using the left over 2 colours).

For your curtains it depends on what curtain rail you have.  If you have tab curtains where you can slide the curtains on and off, I would go and buy 6 curtains (2 of each colour).  Then I would slide them on in order of left to right like this: brown, white, pink (middle open window space), pink, white, brown.  This will allow you to have all colours and the stripping effect will match your bed and colour scheme!

Also consider throwing down a white fur/shaggy rug.  I think these always look great in bedrooms!

Hope this helps and good luck!!!
