  1. OK, I have never seen any research that says marijuana has any positive effects for people who have epilepsy.  Now if you mean it will help you have a seizure I will agree.  Any time you have a medical condition or are on any kind of drug it is wise to not put any kind of chemical or drug in your system

  2. Sounds like you are doing some self-diagnosing.......

  3. I can get you an appointment with a doctor in Denver or the Colorado Springs area.  You will need to have medical documentation of your condition and promise not to go advertising the doctors name publicly.  Email me and we'll talk.

As to the ignorance of the above respnders, allow me to give some brief enlightenment.  marijuana is truly one of the most effective neuroprotectants, showing some of the greatest promise for traumatic brain injury.  Even the governent has funded research that supports that fact that marijuana, and its chemical components, are neuroprotectants, with greater antioxidant activty than vitamin E and C.  Epileptic seizures can be caused from a phenomenon called excitotoxicity, which follows these steps:

    1.  Excessive glutamate is released and travels to post-synaptic neuron

    2. Glutamate binds to NMDA receptor

    3.  Causes elevated calcium build up

    4.  leads to excessive nitric oxide and free radical production detsroying nerve cells

    5.  Also leads to elevated electrical stimulation, aka = the seizure

Now here is how marijuana and cannabinoids help:

    1.  THC and CBD decrease glutamate relase, but not at physiologic levels, only at toxic levels.  Thus the cannabinoids do not have an effect on normal glutamate signaling, but only on abnormal

    2. THC blocks the NMDA receptor, but again, only during abnormal pathology

    3.  THC binds to the cannabinoid receptor, which is known to block calcium from entering the cell, thus blocking all previosuly mentioned harmful effects therien associated

    4.  Cannabinoids block nitric oxide production in nerve cells.

    5.  Cannabinoids reduce free radicals through antioxidant activities

Dare to learn the truth.  Science can be tested, quentified, repeated.  Your emotions are subjective, personal, and political.  No matter how much we may want to believe the government, the only people who seem to get sever psychological disorders over marijuana are those who try to enforce lies about it, who never actually use it.  Maybe they should, after all it protects the brain!
