k im 14 and i want to save up for an xbox 360 so i was wondering how much it is oh and im from kansas if any one can explain the whole fedarl min and stae min to me and tell me how many hours i can work get 10 points

  1. The federal minimum is the lowest pay allowed in the country; but there are exceptions.  State minimum is the lowest pay allowed in the state.  That means it could be more than the Federal minimum wage, but not lower than it.

    Waitresses and others who are paid in tips can be paid less than minimum wage.   On average the tips make up the difference.

    Your pay will have deductions for taxes and social security.  Figure 75 hours at min wage to afford the Xbox-more for the games.

States can't pay less than the federal standard, but they can pay more.  From what I found, Kansas does not appear to have a minimum wage in place that exceeds the Federal minimum.  That would mean Kansas' minimum wage is whatever the federal government has put in place - or - $6.55 per hour at this time.
