Question:

K1 Visa- When you send in the DS-156K to the Consulate, must you attach copies of your documents?

I'm assuming that you don't need to enclose these documents (eg birth certificate, etc) as you are expected to bring original documents and photocopies to your interview. Is this just a statement of fact about the process or is this application requiring these documents? Any direction/advice in this is greatly appreciated

  1. The consulate should already have the approved K1 petition on hand when they schedule the interview appointment.  They will have received it from the National Visa Center.  They will tell you exactly what documents to bring to the interview.
