KA over reving, PLEASE HELP!?

I have bought my daughter an S plate KA, but on gear change and slowing down i am getting excessive engine revs, revs die down after a few seconds, what is causing this and is there any easy cure? Many thanks

  1. idle speed control valve

  2. MUDFISH is correct. Idle control valve sits between the air filter box and engine inlet. If you look under the bonnet whilst somebody opens and closes the throttle you will see the other end of the cable moving. Just to the right of this is the valve (two 10mm bolts holds it in place if I remember rightly)

Changed mine at a cost of around £70. ish.

  3. Never heard of a S plate KA auto?

Sounds like a throttle issue, you may have a bad TPS throttle position sensor, or a bad oxygen sensor can cause iregular throttle response.

Or your shoes may be chaffing against the throttle when braking and downshifting.  Try just putting in neutral with the clutch in and coast when it is safe to do so and see if the problem persists.
