KFC Big Bash League Update – Matches 9 & 10
In another nerve-wracking encounter of the Big Bash League, Sydney Sixers triumphed over Melbourne Stars by two runs.
The match held importance as it brought the audience to witness the first rivalry between two of Australia’s finest leg-spinners, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shane-Keith-Warne-c89672. In the end, the former triumphed after the Sixers held courage to emerge victorious.
Batting first, the hosts made 166, courtesy of West Indian all-rounder, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Lumb-c1981 adding a brisk 34 for the first wicket.
However, the middle-over period belonged to Stars with Warne getting rid of the Caribbean power hitter but a late flurry from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dominic-John-Thornely-c54306 ( 29 off 13) ensured that their team posted a healthy 166 on the board.
The chase started poorly for the Stars, but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brett-Lee-c48419 held his nerve to help his side beat their opponents. MacGill however, was not at his best as he conceded
36 from his four overs but managed to take the all important wicket of Stars’ skipper, Cameron White.
In the next match, Hobart Hurricanes kept their winning run intact with a resounding win over Adelaide Strikers, orchestrated by their skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/XJ-Doherty-c2804, who picked up a four wicket haul in front of a packed crowd at the Adelaide Oval.
Despite starting the proceedings slowly, the Hurricanes managed to pick up the run rate in the later parts of their innings and posted a formidable 171 for 4, as the top four all chipped in with notable contributions.
However, it was their skipper and spinner, Doherty who stole the limelight with an excellent bowling display, claiming figures of 4-0-17-4. He was given good support by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rana-Naved-ul-Hasan-c83909 as the Pakistani bowler chipped in with a brace.
In the end the Strikers were restricted at 157 for 8, losing by 14-run margin. The Hurricanes top the charts with three wins from three.
