KIG clobbers Flat Out to ride into the USPA National 20-Goal Tournament Final
KIG felt a huge rush of confidence when the final whistle sounded, powering its victory in the final league match of the USPA National Twenty-Goal Championship, as Hector Galindo registered five goals to overcome Flat Out.
The exhilarating game was played on Thursday, November 17, at the Palm City Polo Club, in Boca Raton, Florida, United States.
Flat Out was remarkable and did a brilliant job but KIG also delivered a fantastic performance, bouncing back in the second period and wining the match by a difference of three goals, 10-7.
Bash Kazi, the KIG skipper, failed to recover from his injury and was replaced with one-goal handicap, Adam Figueroa. As a result of this substitution, Flat out (16-goal) received three goals in the head of lower handicaps from KIG (19-goal).
KIG started playing aggressively from the very beginning minute of the fixture, accomplishing back to back attacks against Flat Out. With minutes into the first chukka, Jeff Blake opened the scoring account with a field goal for KIG.
In a matter of few minutes, Tommy Biddle whacked a penalty shot, reducing the difference to a single goal. Despite not scoring any goals, Flat Out led the score, 3-2, after the seven and a half minutes of play.
Flat Out came out with a fast-paced game in the second set of play, scoring back to back goals within a few minutes. Paul Knapp accounted for a couple of goals while Jota Chavanne accompanied him with a single, increasing Flat Out’s edge up to four goals.
But the KIG attackers were not sitting idly and watching the game go by. Jeff Blake and Hector Galindo notched one goal each and closed the period with Flat Out holding a 6-4 lead.
The duo foursomes showed stiffened defence in the third period, but KIG managed a single goal at the hands of Blake. KIG was trailing by a single goal, 6-5, with one half left to play.
The lead changed hands with KIG that played openly in the fourth chukka, holding Flat Out at bay during the entire period. Galindo and Blake worked together, scoring one goal each for KIG and putting it ahead of Flat Out by a 7-6 advantage.
The second last frame also belonged to KIG, that acquired two more goals while holdings the opponents goalless. Galindo was the point-scorer for KIG, expanding the lead to three goals.
Both the foursomes fought brilliantly and exchanged one goal in the final seven minutes of the game. Diego Cossio marked the goal for Flat Out while Galindo did the action for KIG.
Despite the two teams battling fiercely in the dying minutes, they failed to add further goals to their scores.
KIG won the match as well as booked a place in the finals of the USPA 20-Goal Tournament.
