KIG outplays Certified in Hampton Cup: 12-11 – Polo Update
Kris Kampsen marked the game-winner in over-time, as KIG outplayed Certified by a solitary goal, 12-11 in the match of Hampton Cup that was contested at the Bridgehampton Polo Club. It was a great show staged by KIG and Certified to enchant the spectators
sitting in the arena.
Michel Dorignac, the player from KIG while speaking to the reporters expresses pleases saying that they displayed outstanding play in the second half and managed the victory. He underlined, “What a great win. We had a great second half, and never gave up.”
Nacho Figueras, the Certified player also spoke to the media with a heavy mind and stated that they had not considered exclusion in the tournament. He stated, “I never really thought we were out of it. We missed some opportunities in the opening chukkers,
but I felt like we were still in it. We kept getting stronger and stronger. We were really clicking as a team.”
The fast-paced game was unfolded in the hands of Marcos Garcia Del Rio and Tomas Garcia Del Rio who managed the two goals from penalty shot and field efforts in the early minutes. From the other side, Dorignac scored a goal to bring his line-up into the
play. Tomas notched another goal in the concluding moments and completed the period with Certified trailing by two goals 3-1.
The second chukka was quite low scoring where only a single goal was scored in the seven minutes of play. The defenders from Certified and KIG displayed reasonable game and denied many efforts from the two sides. A penalty shot was converted in the hands
of Dorignac that reduced Certified’s lead down to a single goal at the end of the first half of play.
In the third set of play, the Certified team once again ruined the defensive line of KIG and scored three goals while holding them scoreless. Marcos and his team-mate Michael Borrico scored two and once goal respectively and took the lead up to four at the
half time to 6-2.
The lead further expanded in the first period of the second half when Tomas and Borrico once again scored two and one time respectively and took the score up to nine goals. From the other side, one goal apiece from Nacho Figueras and Dorignac could not create
much difference.
In the fifth set of play, Figueras scored thrice while Dorignac scored off a penalty shot and made a comeback into the match. Adam Snow accounted for his first goal in the last minute to complete the period at 10-8.
Dorignac converted to shots while Figueras lit the lamp once and tied the knots at 11-all. Adam Snow the point-scorer from Certified. Both moved into the extra time where Luis Escobar scored the go-ahead and made the victory possible for KIG.
