KKR's Gautam Gambhir considers no one responsible for defeat against KTK: IPL-4 News
Kolkata http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gautam-Gambhir-c58623, has said that he does not consider anyone responsible for the team’s humiliating 17-run defeat to Kochi Tuskers Kerala (KTK) in an Indian Premier League match, on Thursday May 5, 2011.
The KTK outfit thrashed KKR in the 45th IPL game in their own backyard at the Nehru Stadium in Kochi.
Having been asked to bat first, the KTK piled up a fighting total of 156 runs, courtesy to the fabulous hitting by the captain Mahela Jayawardene and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brad-Hodge-c1184.
In response, the visitors could only manage to reach 139 for 7 in the given 20 overs. Although, the two openers, Jacques Kallis and Eoin Morgan, provided their side a fantastic start by putting together a superb partnership of 69 runs, the rest of the batsmen
failed to carry forward the momentum.
The skipper, Gambhir, got out on a duck while only three KKR's batsmen were able to reach double figures. However, the skipper rejected to blame any of his team-mates for the KKR’s fourth loss in the ongoing competition.
When asked whether Brett Lee’s expensive last over made the difference, Gambhir stated, "I do not want to blame anyone. It happens in the game of cricket. He gave his best shot and we know these things happen. He has bowled well in the last couple of games."
Commenting on the nature of wicket used in the game, the Indian player said that it was a good track to bat on, but the credit goes to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kerala-c803 bowlers who maintained a good line and length throughout the match.
"We did not go wrong anywhere. I do not want to blame anyone. But we should have chased 156. Kochi bowled well and credit goes to Kochi as they stick to the areas," the classy Indian left-hander added.
The Delhi-born batsmen further asked his players not to take defeat to heart and move on. With 12 points in 10 matches, the KKR are languishing at the second spot in the IPL-4 standings.
Considering next two games as crucial, Gambhir urged his players to concentrate on their game and come up with improved performances in the upcoming matches.
