KLRC proceeds in the right direction to facilitate shuttlers with better opportunities
KLCR, a famous badminton club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is progressing well in the right direction as it facilitates shuttlers with better opportunities and sponsors them to participate in international events.
Many renowned shuttlers of Malaysia have joined KLRC after leaving the national set up that works under the supervision of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM). Currently, Men’s Doubles national shuttlers, Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari and Mohd Zakry
Abdul Latif have also got the sponsorship of KLRC after leaving the national team of Malaysia.
Both shuttlers, Mohd Tazari and Mohd Zakry have a good world ranking in the Men’s Doubles category as they are placed at Number 23 and 25, respectively. With the addition of these elite shuttlers, the strength of professional shuttlers in KLRC has reached
to 16. Among these shuttlers, there are some talented local players and others have gained glory at international level.
Andrew Kam, the owner of KLRC, expressed that the club will continue supporting those shuttlers who want to continue playing badminton after leaving the national setup as it will be a second chance for the players.
He said, “We started modestly in 2005 as a small outfit ... but now we are where we are because we continue to give opportunities to players. Sometimes, a player goes through a slump and struggles for a while. All he or she needs is a second chance to get
it right.”
Kam further added, “Here, at KLRC, we give them that opportunity to rebound and excel. We are happy that Zakry and Fairuzizuan have joined us on their own accord. We will do our part to help them realise their dreams of qualifying for the Olympic Games.”
KLRC has established its place as a competitive badminton club in the country and has been gaining importance for the last six years. Now, it has turned its focus towards junior shuttlers along with experienced elite players.
By supporting junior shuttlers, the club wants to give a competitive environment to young players where they will play with experienced international contestants and gain a higher level of skill and expertise.
