KMnO4+H2SO4+H2O2 -->MnSO4+K2SO4+H2O+O2?

the solution of KMnO4+H2SO4 was violet,,, but when H2O2 was added, it turned colorless. why???

  1. The manganate(VII) ion is violet. It oxidises hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen, but is reduced to the colourless Mn2+ ion in turn. Because the manganate(VII) is removed, the purple colour disappears.
