Following their three consecutive defeats in the group stages of the European Championship, the Dutch FA director Bert van Oostveen has called for immediate assessment of the Oranje’s disappointing performance.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Dutch Football Association (KNVB) director, Bert van Oostveen, has demanded assessment of Netherlands’ abysmal Euro 2012 campaign before they commence their 2014 World Cup qualification voyage.
The Oranje were tipped as one of the main candidates to achieve European glory at the start of the competition in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032. However, the Flying Dutchmen failed to live up to the fans expectations with erratic showings
in all three of their Group B encounters before crashing out of the tournament.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 cruised to a 2-1 win over the Dutch before Portugal’s victory struck the final nail
in the Flying Dutchmen’s coffin.
Van Oostveen, who was confident that the Oranje will succeed in Poland and Ukraine, was disillusioned after watching his side bow out of the competition from the group stages, and has now demanded immediate assessment of their
failure.
“Zero points at the end of the group stage, I believe this never happened before. We need to evaluate all those involved. You have to think about the coach, members of the technical staff and the technical manager. This has to
happen quickly, because on August 15 we will play again. I expect things to be clear in mid-July. I will conduct the evaluation myself”, the KNVB director was quoted as saying to ANP.
Following the 2010 World Cup runners-up's disappointing Euro 2012 campaign, rumours are rife that the Netherlands head coach, Bert van Marwijk, will be dismissed from his position while many fans are also calling for the 60-year-old’s
sacking.
However, the Dutch FA director has mooted all such speculations while praising the Dutch mentor’s accomplishments since he took over the managerial hot-seat in 2008.
“In the evaluation, we will take into account the fact that we finished second at the World Cup [in 2010]. Van Marwijk led the Dutch team to two excellent qualifications”, Van Oostveen concluded.
