KTM Motocross Bike - Is it for me?

Hello, I was just wondering if this bike is appropriate for me.

I am 14 years old and about 5'3 and weigh 105lbs/47kg.

I have had a KTM 85sx,Honda CRF150RB, Honda CRF250R and KTM 250sx.

I want to start racing now.

I took my CRF250R to a motocross track and struggled alot to throw it around.

My dad talked to somebody else and they reccomended a CRF150RB for me to touch up on my skills with (So my dad bought one). I have had a good time with that but now I miss my good old 250F power I love so much.

Do you think if I practice for a few more months on the 150R I would be ok on the 2009 250SX-F For the start of the next motocross season? - I can't sit on it properly, I would get shorter springs and cut down seat.

Thanks :)

  1. if you've already had two 250s why is it so hard to ride one now the sounds like some b.s

  2. You are a bit short for the 250f but if you are happy with it then why not.  It is rough when you are the age of lots of others who can easily throw their bikes around and you can't due to being smaller, but it is possible to successfully race a 250f when small as my son is doing just that and doing very well on the bike.  Mind you he is now a few inches taller than you, but if you take the bike to a specialist in suspension who can set it up for your size and weight and also trim the seat down that is a start.  get some starting blocks for the start line so you can touch the ground and go out to ride for fun and not expect a lot at first as getting off the start gate when you are smaller than the others is difficult especially if it happens to be concrete starts as the bike spins a lot more no matter what you do.  With a lot of practice you can stop this.  Also practice picking the bike up when you go down so you can figure out the quickest way to do that as you lose a lot of time if you go down and are the last to get your bike up.

Also keep in mind that many of the top riders are small in stature.
