Kaboul apologizes for seeing red
Tottenham Hotspur defender Younes Kaboul has issued a formal apology to the fans and his teammates for earning himself a pointless red card in the game against Newcastle. Kaboul had reacted violently after he found himself on the receiving end of a crunching tackle by Cheick Tiote. The 24-year-old was shown a straight red card when he was deemed to have head-butted Tiote in the aftermath of the challenge.
Harry Redknapp saw his side reduced to ten men for the second time in just as many days. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 had previously received a straight red card for an elbow to the face of an Aston Villa player. Kaboul’s dismissal was more straightforward, but the defender protested his innocence after the match. Redknapp didn’t see things in the same light. The Spurs manager was furious at the way the 24-year-old conducted himself, saying,
“We shouldn't have gone down to 10. It was stupid. It's a lack of discipline. He has got to learn. You are 1-0 up so why do you have to get involved in something like that? It's absolute nonsense and he has to learn.”
It seems http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Younes-Kaboul-c37543 has learned his lesson. The defender has apologized for his reaction, admitting that he had let his team down. In a statement to Tottenham’s official website, Kaboul said, “I received what I felt was a bad tackle from the player and that's why I reacted the way I did. I know I should not do this and it's not in my nature. I apologize to my team and would like to say sorry to the fans and I hope we will not see that on the pitch again."
The Tottenham centre-half will now begin a three match suspension that will see him miss vital clashes in the coming weeks. Kaboul will be unavailable for the games against Fulham, Everton and, perhaps most importantly, Manchester United. We will have to wait and see how Spurs cope without their influential defender when Fulham travel to White Hart Lane on new year’s day.
