Manchester United’s latest signing, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shinji-Kagawa-c33364 has admitted that he is looking to make a name for himself at United and doesn’t want to work in the shadows of anyone else.
The twenty three year old was previously linked with a move to a number of top clubs across Europe, but he ended up choosing to make a move to United in the end, as he feels he will fit in perfectly at Old Trafford.
Kagawa went on to turn down the number seven jersey at the club, since he feels he is ready to create a legacy for himself and doesn’t want to be compared to players who played for the team in the past.
The number seven jersey was worn by the likes of George Best, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629. However, the player doesn’t want to be associated with anyone, since that way he won’t have to live up to very high expectations.
When talking about his move to the club, the player went on to state: "I've just joined the team and haven't accomplished anything yet"
"I want to make a name for myself [at United] on my own terms."
The player is yet to decide what jersey to wear, since he isn’t sure which one is going to be free at the club. However, he doesn’t think that picking a jersey number is going to be that big of a problem for him.
"I don't know which numbers are free," Kagawa coyly told reporters.
"I gave them my requests, but they aren't as important a number [as No. 7]"
Even though he was linked to the team for quite some time and it was only a formality to get the medical done, he still seemed to be far more excited than anyone expected, after he finally put pen to paper.
"The contract was as long as I'd expected from a club [like United]," Kagawa laughed. "When I was at [Old Trafford], I thought about how incredible it would be if I could score there."
It is now a wait to see just how the player performs at the club and if he can fit into the team or not.
