Kah Ming, Yao Han march into Men’s Doubles pre quarter-finals – Thailand Open Update
Malaysia’s Kah Ming Chooi-Yao Han Ow found their lost form and clinched a spot in second round of SCG Thailand Open by edging Zhao Jiang Terry Yeo-Liu Yi in first round on June 7, 2012.
The CU Sports Complex of Bangkok saw prime badminton skills of contenders who sweat hard for 50 minutes before registering final margin of 21-13, 18-21 and 17-21.
The victorious duo will now lock horns with six seeded pair Ricky Karanda Suwardi-Muhammad Ulinnuha of Indonesia.
Kah Ming and Yao Han came back from horrendous start and made a strong impact in last two segments of the show while the Singaporeans frittered away their impeccable effort of first set and crashed out of the event.
This battle got started with Zhao Jiang and Liu Yi roaring in first set. They dominated all corners of court and did not give even a single counterattack opportunity to their challengers.
In first half of the set, they put the opposing team under pressure by gaining a four-point advantage in start. They magnified the impact with couple of nonstop rallies and reached at11-5 until the break.
After half time, they maintained same momentum and placed a mountainous total of 17-12 which helped them to valuable match point with 21-13 score on the board.
Next game was full of sensation as both teams put all they got to achieve their respective goals. The Malaysians proved themselves lazy bones in the beginning but then they perked up and turned the tables.
Both contenders remained neck-to-neck until final stage and did not allow each other to establish a comfortable lead.
First half ended with Kah Ming and Yao Han standing slightly ahead of their opponents in 11-10 margin but the Singaporeans made this race thrilling by reaching at 17-16 in last part.
However, they could not stand in front of their rivals’ brilliance and knelt down after reading decisive figure of 18-21.
Their bad patch continued in the decider also as the twosome of Kah Ming-Yao Han casted them out with a respectable total of 21-17 and ensured its presence in pre quarter-finals of Thailand Open 2012.
