The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 international was surprised at how the 1990 World Cup champions threw away their four-goal advantage in midweek and has asked Die Nationalelf some major questions
Former Karlsruher SC and
Bayern Munich goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015 on Tuesday, stating that the players lack mental toughness and defensive prowess. He said that Germany were poor in the latter stages
of the 2014 World Cup qualifying match.
The national side were leading 4-0 just after the start of second-half, but conceded four goals in the last half-hour of play to only grab a point. The comeback was brilliant from the away side but the veteran player suggested
that the situation should never have arisen to this point.
The experienced custodian conceded that the result was astounding. He said that Die Mannschaft were the better side by 60th minute and it was really awful defending to let in four goals in such a short period of time,
and that too in an international game.
"That was astonishing. Considering the German team dominated the match until the 60th minute. It was uniquely stupid," he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The shot-stopper claimed that when the match was 4-2, the team should have concentrated more on finishing the game with the same scoreline. Germany did not even pull-up their defence and panicked under the circumstance, and eventually
paid the price for it.

"At 4-2 at the least, focus should have been on securing the result, stabilising the defence. It appears to me that this team cannot react appropriately to extreme situations – a plan B is missing,” he mused.
"On the pitch there is little communication, little atmosphere. After conceding at 4-2 against Sweden, one had the impression that collective fear and paralysis was spreading [among the team],” he added.
The DFB-Eleven did not have an alternate plan against Sweden. Moreover, Kahn further added that no one was really taking responsibility on the field and there was quietness among the players. He said that the whole squad feared
the worst when they starting conceding goals.
