Qualifying top seed, Kai-Chen Chang, swallowed past the Turkish rising star, Cagla Buyukakcay, with a bagel in the final round of the qualifying competition at the PTT Pattaya Open 2012. She jolted down a 6-0, 6-2 success over the Turk to book a spot in
the main draw at this WTA International tournament on Monday.
Highest ranked player of the qualifying competition, Chang, displayed flawless performance at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Pattaya City and crushed the Turk in 66-minutes in their second meeting. She not only maintained her winning record against Buyukakcay
but also advanced into the first round with poise.
The top seed unveiled her true colours at the beginning of the match as she went on a six games killing spree and pocketed a bagel in few minutes. She was never challenged with any breakpoint and converted three out of five break chances to her advantage.
Chang produced a lower first serve share but magnificently clicked six out of eight points on it.
World number 110, Chang, carried her winning form in the second set and earned the desiderated break in the opening game to take the initial lead. Later, she held entire serves and capitalised on another break chance in the seventh game to clinch the set
with an exceptional 6-2 score line. The Taiwanese saved the only breakpoint she encountered and cashed in two out of six break opportunities to prevail. She again clobbered a fewer first serve share but marked acceptable 12 out of 17 points on it.
Sixth seed, Sacha Jones, faced a different fate as she exited from the tournament in this final round of the qualifying competition. The Aussie was ousted by the Chinese youngster, Yi-Miao Zhou, after a dismal performance in the match.
The 20-year-old took the initial lead after drawing the first blood. However, she lost her following two serves and suffered a 3-6 loss in the opening set. After a series of serves breaks in the following set, Jones dominated in the tie-breaker to equalise
the set scores. The match could go either way but the Chinese regained her rhythm and dominated in the decider to bag the match.
