Kai Schafer overpowers Rasmus Grill Noes to grab Men’s Singles title at Under 19 Six-Nations 2012
Germany’s Kai Schafer displayed an inspiring performance in the final contest when he defeated Denmark’s Rasmus Grill Noes and clinched Men’s Singles title at Under 19 Six-Nations 2012 on Monday, April 9, in Germany.
Schafer, who was seeded at number three in Men’s Singles main draw of the event, put up sensational show of attacking badminton in the whole contest and managed to win it with a tight score against the top seeded Danish shuttler.
On the other hand, the higher ranked Rasmus could not live up to expectations as despite playing well he could not overpower his spirited German rival and lost the contest in straight sets.
The in-form Schafer played to his full speed in the final match and cheered the home fans by winning his first title in the current year.
In the opening set, Schafer played remarkable badminton and did not let his opponent to take lead. He matched the speed of Rasmus and also remained positive until the mid-game interval.
After the one-minute break, Rasmus geared up his speed but failed to dictate the pace of rallies as his lower ranked local opponent was playing flawless game.
The score reached at 21-21 when Schafer showed his brilliance as he executed superb shots in right areas and won the set with a dramatic margin of 23-21.
In the second game, both men again played tremendous badminton and entertained the local crowd with their spectacular performance.
Schafer, who was having the support of German fans, remained fully focused until the end of opening half where the score remained close.
After the break, Schafer did not show any sign of slowing down his speed and also troubled his opponent by playing positive and fast badminton.
Both shuttlers reached at the concluding stage without taking any clear lead. The score was 22-22 when Schafer again played smart badminton and secured two consecutive points and bagged the game with a tight 24-22 score on the board.
The in-form Schafer emerged as victorious in the Men’s Singles title match in an emphatic fashion by a remarkable margin of 23-21 and 24-22.
