Kaichi Uchida bounces over Purav Raja 6-2, 6-4
Right-hander, Kaichi Uchida, prevailed over his Indian rival, Purav Raja, in the second qualifying round of the 2012 Dunlop World Challenge Tennis Tournament held at the carpet courts of Taraflex, Japan. The local challenger collected his win 6-2, 6-4 on
the eve of Saturday and geared up for the final qualifying round.
The Indian senior, Raja, inaugurated the match with a strong resolve to dominate but he was unable to sustain his lead. The local challenger skilfully held his lead by cashing his rival’s serve in the third game. He completely crumbled his rival’s confidence
and proved his worth as the time ticked. He continued to receive his desired break and capitalized on another break chance in the sixth game. Raja was unable to put forward a strong defence mechanism. He gallantly pulled out the opener, availing his destined
lead with a 6-2 score line.
In the second set, the right-hander Indian was unable to preserve his initial serve in the opener and bestowed the initial two games to his contender. The 18-year-old, Uchida, struggled hard to withstand his senior’s pressure but as the game progressed,
he displayed his superior class. He smoothly pocked his entire serves, maintaining his serve in the entire time. Both players held their serves the entire time, showing their passion for the win. Eventually, Uchida, pulled out of the opener with a 6-4 win.
Julien Obry ousts Wesley Koolhof 6-3, 6-1
French professional, Julien Obry, successfully outmuscled the Dutch rival, Wesley Koolhof, in the second qualifying round of the Toyota Challenger 2012, played at the carpet courts of Japan. The Frenchman professional jolted down his triumph 6-3, 6-1 on
Saturday.
Ranked 421st in the ATP World Tour Rankings, Obry, began the opener with an impressive start. He nudged forward to secure the initial three games, stamping a 3-0 lead by the end of initial part of the opening set. This made an impressive mark
on his challenger and completely shattered his hopes to secure the front line. The players held their serves for the major portion of the set and eventually the Frenchman drifted towards the end of the set, with a 6-3 score line.
In the second set, the 23-year-old Koolhof, sustained his initial serve but was unable to withstand the pressure. The French senior cashed his rival’s serve thrice and beautifully terminated the match with a bread stick.
