Kaio Marcio de Almeida secures Men’s 100m butterfly gold – Jose Finkel Trophy
Kaio Marcio de Almeida of FFC/RJ secured gold medal of the Men’s 100m butterfly on third day of the 2012 Jose Finkel Trophy in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Wednesday, August 22.
Almeida showered his expertise in the 100m discipline as he sprinted his way towards the finishing wall for gold medal. He showed no leniency to his opponents throughout the race and dominated his way to the top of medal rostrum for the crown.
With his persistent efforts, Almeida remained more than a body length ahead of his strongest challenger as he touched the finishing blockade for gold medal with an effort of 50.74 seconds.
His gruelling effort remained 1.11 seconds faster from his following swimmer, Gabriel Vasconcellos Mangabeira of ECP/SABESP, who followed him on the victory stand for second position with timing of 51.85 seconds.
Mangabeira was followed by Henrique de Souza Martins of ECP/SABESP, who stayed just 0.05 seconds slower from overpowering his foregoing finisher and hit the wall with an effort of 51.90 seconds for bronze medal.
The third position holder was followed by Marcos Antonio Macedo of FIAT/MINAS, who was just one stroke apart and settled on the finishing end as fourth fastest swimmer by submitting a time of 52.24 seconds.
Fifth position of the race was secured by Arthur Mendes Filho of CORINTHIANS/ABDEM, who suffered a loss of only 0.16 seconds and clocked a time of 52.40 seconds.
He remained 0.07 seconds ahead of Fernando Souza da Silva of ECP/SABESP, who remained prominent for sixth best place of the event by reporting a time of 52.47 seconds.
Seventh position of the event was secured by Frederico Veloso Castro of CRF/RJ, who remained just a touch away from his former finisher and posted a time of 52.50 seconds.
Last spot of the race was secured by Leonardo de Deus of CRF/RJ, who was 0.12 seconds away from his preceding swimmer and ended his race in a time of 52.62 seconds for eighth position.
Almeida was very happy with his undisputed form in the butterfly discipline and received his medal at the prize ceremony of the event.
