Kaitlin Leung snares Girls 100yard butterfly title – High School State Championships, San Francisco
Kaitlin Leung of LOW snared gold medal of the Girls 100yard butterfly at the 2012 High School State Championships in San Francisco, California on Tuesday, May 1.
Leung dictated terms to her challengers in the 100yard event as she proved her eligibility for gold medal of the event. With her scintillating efforts, she remained prominently ahead of her challengers throughout the butterfly discipline and won the title
of the event.
She proved her mettle for gold medal of the event by producing a time of 59.53 seconds. Her notable effort was trailed by Alison Hoang of WASH, who stayed nearly 0.70 seconds behind and tapped the finishing wall for silver medal by clocking a time of 1 minute
and 01.19 seconds.
Hoang stayed 1.07 seconds faster from her following rival, Verna Huang of LINC, who met expectations of her fans by producing a time of 1 minute and 02.26 seconds for bronze medal of the event.
Similarly, Huang remained considerably ahead of her following swimmer, Vivian Nguyen of LOW, who concluded her race in fourth best place by posting a time of 1 minute and 06.80 seconds.
Nguyen was followed by Asako Ejima of LOW, who was 0.78 seconds slower from her former finisher and secured fifth best spot of the race by clocking a time of 1 minute and 07.58 seconds.
After that, Jared Vu of LINC occupied gold medal of the similar event in Boys category. Vu remained in a lead of almost two body lengths over his strongest competitor and hit the wall with the timing of 52.55 seconds for gold medal.
Nicholas Pasquinzo of LOW remained nearly two body lengths slower from him and appeared on the wall with the timing of 54.43 seconds for silver medal.
He was trailed by his team-member, Erin Vu, who was almost five seconds behind and ended his swim in a time of 59.32 seconds. Matthew Tam of WASH finished fourth in the event with the timing of 59.70 seconds.
In addition, the position holders received awards and accolades for their invincible efforts in the 100yard event after the session.
