Kaká’s Chances of Moving from Real Madrid: What has Jose Mourinho Planned for Him?
There have been some changes in Real Madrid’s setup, as Jose Mourinho has become the new manager of the squad. Mourinho would obviously like to mould the squad according to his wishes: he would re-structure the team into a more defensive style, which would render many players in the squad almost useless.
The Brazilian star, Kaka, joined Real Madrid from AC Milan last summer. He was part of the second highest transfer bid in football. Due to the finances put in by Real Madrid, Kaka was expected to bring about a change in Madrid’s fate. However, he struggled due to injuries during his first year. Thus, he has almost done nothing during the transition period at Madrid, due to which he would not be as good in this season as he was supposed to be.
On the other hand, there are other players emerging to take the positions left vacant by senior players. One of these players is Mesut Ozil, of Germany. The youngster showed his class during the World Cup, another stage where Kaka failed, which has made him one of the most wanted players in football. Therefore, it was in Mourinho’s mind to replace Kaka with someone younger and better, i.e. Ozil.
In such a case, Kaka was likely to go back to his old manager, Carlo Ancelotti, who is currently stationed at Chelsea FC. It is a very common phenomenon in football that the players would like to retreat to their old saviours when troubles fall upon them. Kaka displayed brilliant form under Ancelotti at AC Milan, so there were rumours that Madrid would sell him to Chelsea, to make room for Ozil.
However, no one would be willing to pay a big amount for Kaka right now. There is no doubt that he is one of the best, but he has shown lack of form for almost a year now. Also, he has displayed poor fitness, as he repeatedly suffered from injuries last season. No one wants to buy a big player, spending a hefty amount, and then watch him be reduced to merely warming the benches.
Carlo Ancelotti has rubbished rumours that Chelsea has shown any interest in Kaka. He clarified that no talks are going on between Chelsea and Madrid, and it is the player’s discretion to decide his own fate. Also, Ancelotti said that Kaka was a member of his team, and he flourished under him, but he had become a Madrid player and should work for the new team. This statement has, at least, clarified the transfer rumours linked with Kaka, who would now focus on his preparations for the new season.
Mourinho, meanwhile, has now gone into deep thinking. Frankly speaking, Kaka does not get a position in Mourinho’s style of play. Jose Mourinho has Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain as goal scorers, more than what he needs, which would put Kaka’s position in danger. In the midfield, two strong midfielders, with defensive mentality, would be played, while Kaka’s position would be under threat. Actually, Mourinho likes a diamond like formation, with two players in the centre and one lone striker. Hence, Kaka’s role would be reduced in the team, while a player like Mesut Ozil would have been perfect for the squad.
Hence, it seems a better move for Kaka to leave Real Madrid, as he might not get enough playing time. However, Mourinho would also try to use his skills, which would make him one of the most frequent substitutions during matches. This kind of role, however, does not suit Kaka, who has still enough playing days ahead of him.
The transfer window is still open, so nothing can be said with assurance, as things could change drastically within a matter of hours. Kaka’s next move still remains unclear, while Mourinho will most definitely also be keeping his options open.
