Kaka to stay at Real Madrid until next summer
Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite ‘Kaka’ has revealed that he will remain at Real Madrid until next summer, at the very least.
The player, who is currently on the sidelines after undergoing surgery over the summer, had been linked with a move away from the La Liga giants after head coach Jose Mourinho brought in Mesut Ozil and Sergio Canales to battle the Brazilian superstar for
the attacking midfield position.
But the 28-year-old revealed that he will not be making an exit in January when the transfer window reopens for business, although he is less sure concerning his long-term future at the club.
He told Spanish daily newspaper Marca, "When I fully recover from injury, I will play in Madrid, for Real Madrid. My stay in Madrid is totally safe until next summer. What happens after that only God knows. I have been a long time without playing
football and my goal is to be fully recovered by December."
Kaka arrived at Madrid last summer from AC Milan for a fee of around 70 million Euros, and he endured a difficult first season in the Spanish capital as he struggled for fitness and form.
He made 33 appearances across all competitions and scored nine goals, but was unable to help the club claim any silverware. He also played a part in Brazil’s 2010 FIFA World Cup campaign before going under the knife in August to correct a long-standing knee
injury. His current prognosis indicates that he will be out of action until January.
While Kaka has been on the sidelines, Ozil has taken advantage and has established himself as the first-choice attacking midfielder, acting as the main support for striker Gonzalo Higuain alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Angel di Maria.
