Kakhaber Kaladze signs contract extension with Genoa – Serie A news
Central defender Kakhaber ‘Kakha’ Kaladze has signed a contract extension with his club Genoa and will remain with the side until the summer of 2013.
The defender left AC Milan to join Genoa in the summer of 2010 and is delighted to have signed the contract extension.
The Georgian labelled Milan as the most successful club in the world and said that he has settled with the Rossoblu. He added that he has equal respect for both clubs and he wishes to repay the faith of the Genoa fans by some good performances. The defender
said that he wants to take the club forward and win trophies with them as they have the potential and the quality to do so.
“I met with the directors and extended my contract by two years. I am very happy at Genoa and I'm now enjoying emotions I had previously forgotten,” the defender told the club’s official website.
Kaladze said that he had rediscovered his form at the club and is enjoying his time playing in the Genoa outfit. The Georgian claims that the club has a bright future and its fans are amongst the most passionate in Italy.
“I have rediscovered my enthusiasm at Genoa, as I see this is an ambitious club and I enjoy working with a fantastic group of guys and fans who are the best in terms of their passion in Italy,” said the Georgian International.
The former AC Milan defender joined Genoa last summer after spending nine years with the Milan giants. He made a total of 284 appearances for the Rossoneri and scored 13 goals.
The defender won two UEFA Champions League titles and a Serie A title with Milan in his glittering time at Milan. Kakha has also been named the Georgian Footballer of the Year three times in his career.
Genoa currently sit tenth in the Serie A table with 35 points and have a bright chance of qualification for the UEFA Europa League next season. They are five points behind the eighth placed Palermo, who occupy the final Europe spot in the Serie A table.
