If you went to Kalamaki, Zante in october, when is the very latest you could go before the majority of restauraunts/bars/hotels are closed? That said, how would a week between the 15-22nd be? I just got back from there and want to go back next October, and was wondering whether it would be a good idea to go so late in the season. Help would be much appreciated!

  1. I wouldn't chance it later than the first week - not just because of places closing and being relatively quiet (sometimes that's a good thing) but the weather - the Ionian islands aren't that green for no reason ...... we need rain! Rain starts coming odd days in September and continues (NOT continuously)  through the rest of winter.

  2. Kalamaki personally i would not go in October , September maybe but apart from you risk the weather being wet and cool, most bars and restaurants in Zante close for the season.

Most of these places are owned and run by Greeks who live in Zante town or Athens and close up and go home for the winter months not returning back till late May. My daughter went to visit Greek friends of mine who lived in the resort of Argassi which is more active than Kalamaki and even they closed their restaurant/bar in the first week in October and they lived in the resort. My daughter said it was like a ghost town very little open . Wait and go in June where the scenery is at its best and everywhere will be open and the weather beautiful, but cooler at night .
