Question:

Kalifornia Gun Laws and Colt Python

I know they banned lead ammo for hunting, is it true they want to keep going and enforce microstamping legislation along with putting serial #s on ammo?

Is this true? And if it is can you provide more information, like a link to a website?

I understand Colt Pythons aren't made anymore, are they expensive or hard to find nowadays?

Thank You

  1. I'm not sure about your ammo question,I live in Pa.About the Colt Python it is no longer made and it is called the Cadaliac of revolvers,I have always wanted one, they are expensive because they are no longer made and it has become a collecters item. They are not too hard to find but they are more expensive than other revolvers.

  2. Python are not that hard to find but they are up in the $1000 range

Cali is a state made for actors , run by actors, that think like actors and think what actors say makes sense

They are trying hard to fulfill Chris Rocks idea of gun control

Tax and price  ammo out of range and then you don't have to worry about the guns

  3. pythons kicka ***.

  4. Lead ammunition for hunting is only banned in specified areas and specified instances.  Check the California DFG regulations in the Use of Lead Ammunition section.  Pythons are no longer made, they are not particularly difficult to find but even a well used Python in this area will cost over $1000.

  5. Don't know about Kalifornia law so I just stay outta there.  The Colt Python is no longer being made.  The last Python model produced was the one called the 'Elite' which seems to be less desirable among collectors than the older Python.  They are not as hard to find as you would think, but they are expensive.  I see them all the time at the gun shows and you see them in gun shops from time to time.  The one I haven't seen in a long time is newer Elite Model.  How expensive are Pythons?  Let me give you a time-line:

In the late 1960s I bought my first Python (a Royal Blue 4" barrel Model) for a small fortune:  $150.  In the late 1980s I bought my second Python for a steal:  $416 (brand-new, Royal Blue 4" barrel).  In 2006 I bought my third Python (a like-new satin stainless 4" beauty) for $900.  Last year I bought my fourth Python for just under $1,200 (a like-new Royal Blue 6" beauty).  This year I passed on another Python because I didn't have the money just then:  A 6" satin stainless like-new 6" barrel for $1,500.  It didn't stay in counter longer than two weeks.  Someone grabbed it up before I was paid again.  None of these were the Elite Model.  They all were older.  One other Python I saw that I would have liked to have added to my collection could I have afforded it then was an 8" target model.  This is the only Colt Python ever manufactured that came chambered for .38 Special ONLY.  The one I saw about five years ago was $1,600, way too much money for me then.  But these .38s (they are not Diamondbacks, but true Pythons except in .38 rather than .357 Mag.) are among the rarest of the Python line.

    Good luck.

    H

  6. I had a Colt Python, I did not particularly like it, I had much better scores with my Smith & Wesson model 15 Combat Masterpiece .38 special, its a question of what works for each individual shooter, for me it wasn't a tack driver.

  7. Yes, its all true.

California is 20 years ahead of the rest of the country - down the wrong road!

California has the most corrupt, incompetent, subversive, and malfeasant politicians in the USA.

That's what happens when the liberals are in control, instead of the Americans!
