Kallis is an inspiration: Bisla – Cricket News Update
Kolkata Knight Riders’ new star batsman, Manvinder Bisla, has lavished praise on teammate http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JH-Kallis-c1692, dubbing him an “inspiration”.
“Kallis hits the ball so cleanly, that the confidence of the non-striker gets lifted. Kallis is truly an inspiration,” the wicketkeeper batsman said.
Bisla was a relatively obscure Indian domestic cricketer, before his performance in the Indian Premier League final brought him into the limelight. The Knight Riders, after ending the league stage of the tournament at number 2 on the points table, powered
their way through the playoffs stage, securing an 18-run win over the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils in the first qualifier match, and following that up with a 5-wicket win in the tournament final against the Chennai Super Kings on May 27 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in
Chepauk, Chennai.
The 27-year-old right-hander played a pivotal role in the final victory. The Knight Riders were set a stiff 191 target by the Super Kings, and the match appeared to enter a precarious stage when the wicket of skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447 fell after he had managed
just 2 runs (after scoring consistently for his team all season).
“I did get tense… I did begin to worry… Gautam, after all, had been batting so well and the team was banking on him to help chase down 191,” Bisla admitted in reference to the early wicket.
However, the match-winning partnership of 136 runs between Bisla (89) and Kallis (69) saved the day for the Knight Riders. The two batsmen enabled their side to reach 139 by the 15th over, and the remainder of the work was done by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shakib-Al-Hasan-c2492
(11) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Manoj-Tiwary-c1890 (9), who hit two final boundaries to take his team to 192, with 2 deliveries remaining.
“… I was fortunate to forge a big partnership with Jacques Kallis, who is such an outstanding batsman,” Bisla admitted.
He also went on to credit the South African all-rounder with having enabled him to improve his game.
“… watching Kallis at nets and watching http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BB-McCullum-c1129 train during practice has been so helpful. At the end of seven weeks, I think I’ve emerged a better cricketer.”
