Kamran Akmal claims to have co-operated with the PCB
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s discarded wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal claimed that he had fully co-operated with Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) integrity committee when he was called in for a meeting.
Akmal while giving an interview to a Pakistani website said, “Whatever the PCB integrity committee has asked for, I have provided them. I have co-operated fully with the committee and I have presented all of the documents that they had requested."
Akmal hoped that after this meeting the board would clear him from any wrong doings, paving way for his selection in the national team just in time before next month’s cricket World Cup in the subcontinent.
The 28-year-old refused to give details of the meeting said that it took place in a friendly environment.
He said, “The meeting was very cordial. Of course I can't go into full details of exactly what was discussed, but I hope now that this matter is behind me and that I can now be given approval to recommence my international career. I've always tried to give
my best for my country and will continue to do so in future."
Akmal along with former captain Shoaib Malik and leg-spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Danish-Kaneria-c1314 is facing PCB’s probe into the financial and property assets. The board had demanded the trio to submit all the details of their properties and bank accounts so that the country’s
cricket governing body could get a better picture of the earnings of the players.
It has been reported that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has expressed its concern towards the trio’s role in match-fixing and alleged links with bookmakers. No formal charges have been levelled against the players until now.
However, the ICC had advised the PCB not to select the trio until all suspicions of match-fixing are removed against them.
The PCB put the task of the integrity committee to resolve the matter of the clearance of these players. It was expected that the committee would have reached to a conclusion two days ago but after long and hectic meetings with the players the committee
chose not to reveal the decisions of the committee without the consultation of the ICC.
The selection committee was also unable to finalise the team for the ODI in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 and next month’s World Cup because of the unclear situation of the three players.
