Kamran Akmal sent back to Domestic Circuit – Will need to earn his place back
Kamran Akmal and Abdul Razzaq are the two players axed from the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, beginning from the 18th of April, 2011.
The decision came after both players were thoroughly criticised for their dismissive performances in the ICC World Cup 2011.
Mohsin Khan, Chief Selector for the Pakistan team had stated earlier, "At the moment there's no place for Abdul Razzaq and Kamran Akmal in the team.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 later dismissed speculations that termed his exclusion from the team as the end of Kamran’s career, he shared that he was willing to accept the wicket-keeper back with open arms if the controversy ridden keeper proved his worth in the Pakistan
domestic circuit.
“..Now he will have to give an outstanding performance in domestic cricket to win his place back in the Pakistan team,” stressed the Chief Selector.
Mohsin Khan further added that the domestic circuit was an excellent place for players to prove themselves, “Our domestic circuit is pretty easy as compared to international cricket but it’s still a good platform for players to prove (themselves). If Kamran
does that then we will welcome him back in the team with open arms.”
The Chief Selector believed that Kamran Akmal could still play a couple more years for the Pakistani side, “He is still 27 or 28 years old and can play international cricket for four or five more years,” he opined.
Kamran Akmal was under much criticism after his abysmal performance that started from the Series in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, and reached its zenith when Kamran dropped a bevy of catches much to the annoyance of bowler, Shoaib Akhtar. Waqar Younis, the Pakistani coach
also believed it was time for a new keeper to take over, "This debate over the wicketkeeper's performance is a difficult one but I think the Pakistan team now needs a younger wicketkeeper who can carry the load for the next few years,” he shared.
As opposed to Kamran, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Razzaq-c84421 questioned his dropping from the squad, "How can one perform when he is batting at number eight and bowling just a few overs in every match?" he asked. Razzaq plays at the 8th position in the batting lineup, and was
never once allowed to complete his 10-overs quota, despite him playing all matches.
Abdul Razzaq, nonetheless, bore the decision with dignity and commented, "I want to comeback. I think I can still continue playing for a couple of more years as I pay a lot of attention to my fitness," he declared.
The Pakistani side has included a couple of new boys in the side, paving way for the youngsters to step in. After the series in West Indies, the Pakistani team will be touring http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045, where hopefully the young players will get breakthrough
opportunities.
