Out of favour Pakistan’s former wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal who is desperate to make a comeback in the national team has asked the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB) to check the assets of the Pakistan players on a monthly basis to reduce the possibility of foul
play in the earning of the cricketers playing for Pakistan.
"I would support any move by the PCB to regularly check player assets and accounts. I say it should be a six month exercise. Only such an exercise can clean up our image and end these baseless allegations made against us all the time," said the 29-year-old
Akmal.
In recent months Pakistan players have been charged for corruption and most recently three main players http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Asif-c1993 have been the most high profile cases regarding corruption in cricket.
The three players have been sentenced to jail by a London Court for defrauding bookies in England after taking bribes from player’s agent http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 during the Lord’s Test in August of 2010.
During the hearing, Akmal’s name came up on more than one occasion even though the player was not standing trial.
However, there are rumours that Akmal was also among the players involved in spot-fixing, but so far there has been no substantial evidence linking him with the spot-fixing trio.
Rubbishing the notion of being involved in spot-fixing or any sort of corruption in cricket, Akmal made himself available to the International Cricket Council (ICC) for any inquiry in this regard.
“I am ready to make myself available to any investigation. Because I want this stigma to go away forever," Akmal added.
He insisted that he had been cleared by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 and the PCB of any wrong doings; however, his name was constantly attached in the media with the scandal of spot-fixing.
Meanwhile, the newly appointed PCB chairman Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 has insisted that he would do everything in his power to stamp out corruption from Pakistan cricket and for that if he has to sacrifice big players he would not hesitate to do so.
