Kamui Kobayashi: Managing tyre temperature in twilight Abu Dhabi GP is difficult – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi has said that he is sure managing the tyres temperature in twilight 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be difficult for drivers.
The 18th race weekend of the 2011 Formula 1 season will take place on November 13 at the Yas Marina Circuit.
Kobayashi added that he has very good memories from Abu Dhabi. He also mentioned that Yas Marina is the track where he scored his first three Formula 1 championship points when he came at the sixth place back in 2009.
The Japanese discussed his 2009 Abu Dhabi race and stated that it was only his second Grand Prix of his career, and for sure he will never ever forget that. In addition, he mentioned that he also likes the fact it was a twilight race and this made it even
more exciting for the spectators and also very demanding for the team.
Kobayashi commented, “Abu Dhabi is the track where I scored my first three Formula One championship points when I came sixth back in 2009.”
He went on to mention, “The challenge doesn't really come from the changing light, but the track temperature drops significantly when the sun sets. This makes it quite difficult to adapt during the race. I also like the track layout and I think it is an
exciting event and race for everybody.”
With regards to Kobayashi’s performance in the 2011 Formula 1 season so far, he is trying his best to finish this season’s fight with better results.
In the recently held Indian Grand Prix, he successfully finished the Free Practice sessions on the grid among his rivals. After managing to secure 17th position for the raceday in the qualifying round, he took part in the Grand Prix with an
aim to finish his run in the top ten positions.
The 25-year-old driver retired from the race due to a damage in the first lap of the race.
The Sauber driver is placed at the 12th place with 27 points in the 2011 drivers’ championship at the moment.
Let’s see how Kobayashi performs in the upcoming Abu Dhabi race weekend following his disappointing Indian race.
