Kamui Kobayashi: Sauber can score strong results at Spa-Francorchamps next weekend – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi has said that Sauber can score points in the upcoming 2011 Belgium Grand Prix, if they stay calm under difficult situations.
Kobayashi added that the Spa-Francorchamps is one of his favourite race circuits in the sport and that he is looking forward to perform well on it.
The Japanese driver discussed the Spa racetrack with the media and stated that it has a lot of high-speed corners, which would suit their C30 car.
Talking to reporters, Kobayashi said, “It has a lot of high speed corners which should suit our car well, because it has a similar average speed to Silverstone. Normally the temperatures are not very hot there, so for the tyres it should not be too difficult.”
He went on to mention, “Sometimes you are in a situation where you have to decide for which conditions you set up the car before you are sure what the weather will be like. If they are difficult, we have to stay cool in the race and make the right decisions.
Then we can score a strong result.”
The 24-year-old driver further added that the weather of Belgium is always unpredictable, so he can say that there would be another tricky race in the 2011 Formula 1 season at the Spa circuit after Silverstone, Budapest and Nürburgring race.
The team driver was moving in the right direction before the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix, as he was successfully scoring points for his team during the races. In the Budapest race, Kobayashi failed to register his race in the top ten positions following his
positive last few races of the ongoing season. After struggling on the sets of medium and soft tyres by Pirelli, he came at the 11th place ahead of Renault’s Vitaly Petrov in the final race classifications.
His teammate Sergio Perez was also slow at the Hungaroring race circuit, as he finished his race at the 15th position after starting from 10th place on the grid.
The Belgium Grand Prix will start from August 26, 2011. Let’s see how Kobayashi performs over there following his 11th position in Budapest.
