Kamui Kobayashi hopes to achieve competitive result in 2012 German Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi has said that he is hoping to achieve competitive result in 2012 German Grand Prix which is to be held at Hockenheimring on July 22.
Kobayashi could not score even a single point in the British GP as he came 11th after setting off from 17th grid position. Nonetheless, he is aiming to strike back in the race ahead with some essential updates in C31. Moreover, he said
that they are trying their best to keep on making the significant advancements so as to enhance the pace of their car for the approaching races to reduce the gap to the contenders in the front.
“We are not totally sure how the updates we took to Silverstone work, as we haven't really been able to confirm these in practice in dry conditions,” the Japanese driver said. “Maybe we need to do some more fine-tuning on these, so it will be interesting
to see how this happens in Hockenheim. I think our car performs well on all the circuits - high speed or slow speed ones - so I am not worried about our performance there. We shall just focus on trying to get our best result there.”
At present, he is standing at 14th place in the drivers’ championship with 21 points. Besides, he is 3 points ahead of Bruno Senna of Williams and 2 points behind Felipe Massa of Ferrari.
It will be important to mention that although the Japanese driver has retired in three grands prix, nonetheless, he has managed to score some reasonable points in the season so far.
On the other hand, his teammate, Sergio Perez is currently at 9th position in the drivers’ rankings with 39 points. Additionally, he is 11 points behind Jenson Button of McLaren and 10 points ahead of Pastor Maldonado of Williams.
