Kamui Kobayashi invites tsunami-affected people to the Japanese Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi has recently invited the people affected by the tsunami earthquake which struck Japan back in March 2011 to come and watch the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix.
He claims that he wants to add some joy to their lives in some way as a result of which he has personally invited a group of children, the members of an Ensemble to Suzuka along with a choir of girls and their parents as well as guests.
“I hope the children from Minami-Soma have an enjoyable weekend. I will make sure they are well looked after in terms of their travel, accommodation etc. I will be proud of them and their heartbreaking singing, telling the world how deeply grateful and robust
Japan is,” he said.
Kobayashi was also affected by the tsunami earthquake and the following nuclear disaster in Japan earlier on in March but since then, things are becoming much better in the country and he is now completely focused on the 2011 Formula 1 season.
He is currently going very well as he is in 11th place in the drivers’ standings with 27 points. His rookie teammate Sergio Perez on the other hand is also having a pretty decent run this year as he is currently in 16th place
with 8 points.
The team is currently in 7th place now after the Italian Grand Prix as Force India snatched the 6th place away from them in the constructors’ standings. However, the points’ difference between them is not
much as they are just a single point behind and their main goal for the upcoming races is quite simple.
They want to finish at least in 6th place which would be behind Lotus Renault GP. The 6th place will determine the best mid-running team after Mercedes GP and Renault as they are in a completely different
league at the moment.
These two teams are way ahead of the rest of the pack and for Sauber, finishing right behind them in the constructors’ standings would be their main goal since they want to prove that they are much better than Force India or Toro Rosso at least.
