Kamui Kobayashi praises Suzuka circuit, relishes home crowd advantage – Formula 1 news
Kamui Kobayashi is another addition to the list of admirers of the Suzuka circuit. He said he is very proud that Japan has one of the really great circuits in the history of Grand Prix racing.
Although the Suzuka circuit is not an easy one, it is one of the few circuits left with a figure 8 layout, and a classic in the history of Formula 1. Kobayashi is happy about the support he will receive at the circuit and the home advantage he will get from
the circuit.
While talking about the circuit he said, “It is always great to come back to Japan as I am Japanese and so many fans always waiting.”
“I am very proud of Suzuka, as this is one of the really great circuits. It is always really enjoyable to drive here as well. Racing here is always great and really thanks to the many fans as they are always waiting for Formula One,” he further added.
Kobayashi was also upbeat about Sauber’s new package and said that it was a major upgrade of the season as Sauber try to regain sixth place in the constructors’ championship from Force India.
Kobayashi further said that although they had other small updates, this one is the biggest and because the circuit has a lot to do with the aerodynamics, this upgrade will help factor in that as well.
On his own performance, Kobayashi relished the opportunity to perform in front of his home crowd, and said that it would definitely help him perform to the best of his abilities but it all depended on how the mechanics perform in his ride.
He also feels that the Suzuka circuit is quite a tough one where one mistake can make the driver lose out a lot of lap time. However, the Japanese believes that if the car has the right setup on the day, it is easier to manage the legendary circuit.
Let’s see how he fares in the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix, set to begin from Friday, October 7, 2011.
