Sauber driver, Kamui Kobayashi will always remember his third podium finish which he has secured in the 2012 Japanese Grand Prix held at Suzuka.
Kobayashi participated in his home race with highest hopes and managed to secure his first ever podium finish in his F1 career so far. Although, he has struggled in most of the races in the current season until now but the incredible performance at one of
the most challenging circuits in the calendar will always be a part of his pleasant memories.
The Japanese driver has been outclassed by his teammate, Sergio Perez who has shown some remarkable performances in the season until now and has signed a new multi-year contract with McLaren which is going to start from the coming year onwards.
Nonetheless, the performance which he delivered in the race held in Japan will surely boost up his morale and his talent will definitely be acknowledged.
It will be interesting to mention that after the race, the 26-year-old said that he had a feeling that he is going to secure his first ever podium finish at Suzuka. Furthermore, he said that he is extremely grateful to his team for supporting him and providing
him with a competitive car. Besides, he said that he is immensely thankful to his fans for all their love and support.
In addition, he said that he is very much delighted with the result which he attained in his home grand prix and will never forget it.
“I instantly relaxed when all the pressure came off. Without doubt it was a very important race for me in my career. And I felt: yes, now we will be having more strong races and really go for 5th place in the constructors' championship,” he said. “This I
cannot put into words. It was a fantastic feeling to see all the people in my home country so emotional and happy. It gave me such a lot and I will never forget that moment. I want to thank the Japanese fans for the great support they gave to the Sauber F1
Team and to myself.”
It will be exciting to see how he performs in the remainder of the season.
