Kan/Schuurs, Khromacheva/Zanevska make it to the final of Girls’ Doubles – French Open 2011
Kan/Schuurs beat Ninomiya/Ozaki 6-0, 7-5
Russian/Dutch team of Victoria Kan and Demi Schuurs prevailed over Makoto Ninomiya and Risa Ozaki of Japan in straight sets 6-0, 7-5 in the semi-finals of girls’ doubles event at French Open, Roland Garros in Paris on Friday. The
match lasted for an hour and fourteen minutes.
Kan and Schuurs were flawless in the first set as they did not lose even a single game, breaking their opponents three times and winning six consecutive games to clinch the set 6-0. The Russian/Dutch pair hit a single ace and 51
percent of the first deliveries, claiming 67 percent of the points on them in the first set. They won 59 percent of the receiving points in the opening set. Kan and Schuurs converted three of the five break points and saved both break points they faced in
the first set.
Improving their performance in the second set, Ninomiya and Ozaki put up a good fight and did not allow their opponents to break serve in the first ten games, levelling the score at 5-5. However, the Japanese pair failed to hold
their serve in the twelfth game and lost the set 5-7. Kan and Schuurs committed a couple of double faults but compensated that by winning 50 percent of the service return points in the second set.
The Russian/Dutch combination is slated to take on Khromacheva and Zanevska in the final.
Khromacheva /Zanevska defeat Tang/Tian 6-3, 6-0
Russian/Ukrainian pair of Irina Khromacheva and Maryna Zanevska thrashed Hao Chen Tang and Ran Tian in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 to advance to the title match.
Khromacheva and Zanevska broke Tang and Tian in the eighth game of the first set to bag it 6-3. The Russian/Ukrainian duo kept their first serve percentage at 65 percent, grabbing 71 percent of the points on the first serve in
the opening set. The second seeds were brilliant with the return of serve as they won an amazing 67 percent of the receiving points in the first set. Khromacheva and Zanevska failed to save any of the two break points they faced but succeeded in converting
three of the six break points they received in the first set.
Carrying the winning momentum into the second set, the Russian/Ukrainian team crushed their opponents as they did not allow Tang and Tian to win even a single game, breaking them thrice to win the set 6-0. Khromacheva and Zanevska
fired 69 percent of the first deliveries and bagged an incredible 91 percent of the points on them in the second set. The Russian and Ukrainian pair capitalised on three of the six break point opportunities they created and did not face any break point on
their own serve in the second set. The match lasted for 53 minutes.
