Kanako Watanabe claims the Women’s 200m breaststroke title

Kanako Watanabe captured the crowd’s attention with her scintillating performance in the Women’s 200m breaststroke meet on day three of the Japan Open, at Osaka, Japan, on Sunday, May 22.
Watanabe completed her distance in 2:23.90 minutes, while Keiko Fukudome wound up second in 2:25.39 minutes and Naoko Fukudome settled third with a time of 2:26.53 minutes in the respective meet.
The Women’s 50m backstroke title was clinched by Aya Terakawa with a winning time of 27.97 seconds. Shiho Sakai was placed second with 28.52 seconds and Miyuki Takemura finished third in a time of 28.53 seconds.
In the Men’s 100m butterfly meet, Takuro Fuji took home the golden crown with a sterling time of 52.18 seconds. Takeshi Matsuda captured silver in 52.83 seconds, whereas, Hirofumi Ikebata grabbed bronze in a time of 52.90 seconds.
Yuma Kosaka topped the Men’s 200m Individual Medley meet with a time of 1:59.12 minutes, while Yuya Horihata took silver with a 1:59.45 minutes and Daiya Seto wound up third in a time of 1:59.96 minutes.
Izumi Kato won the Women’s 200m Individual Medley meet with a winning time of 2:12.99 minutes. Emu Higuchi rounded out the top two in 2:13.53 minutes and Asami Kitagawa settled with bronze in a time of 2:14.88 minutes.
Yuka Kato nabbed the Women’s 100m butterfly title with a sterling 58.89 seconds, while Rino Hosoda secured the second spot in 59.00 seconds and Tomoyo Fukuda captured bronze in a time of 59.42 seconds. Natsumi Hoshi earned the fourth place honour with a time
of 59.48 seconds in the respective meet.
Kosuke Kitajima claimed the Men’s 200m breaststroke title with a winning time of 2:11.43 minutes, while Kazuki Otsuka settled second in 2:11.52 minutes and Akihiro Yamaguchi retained the third place with a time of 2:12.54 minutes. Kitajima was very thrilled
with his performance in the 200m breaststroke meet, last night.
The Men’s 50m backstroke title was taken over by Masafumi Yamaguchi with the fastest time of 25.53 seconds. Yamato Ujibayashi snagged silver in a time of 25.73 seconds, while Kuninori Tada clinched the bronze with a time of 25.95 seconds.
Yayoi Matsumoto earned the first place honour in the Women’s 50m freestyle with a time of 25.51 seconds. On the other hand, Miki Uchida snared silver with a time of 25.76 seconds and An Yumoto took bronze in a time of 25.82 seconds.
The Men’s 50m freestyle title was secured by Kento Ito with a winning time of 22.43 seconds, whereas, Shinri Shioura and Yuji Kawachi settled with a tie for the second place with a time of 22.74 seconds, respectively.
