Kane Newport signs dual deal
Bath prop Kane Newport has signed a dual registration deal with Championship side Plymouth Albion.
Plymouth have moved quickly to bring in the 19-year-old as a number of key players at the club have fallen to injury over the first few weeks of the season. He made his debut for Plymouth over the weekend
during the 21-10 defeat to London Welsh before signing the deal.
Newport said: "It was really good to get on the pitch.
I really enjoyed the experience. It was good to get that debut out of the way and get rid of the nerves.
I am now just looking forward to getting some more game time, hopefully, next week."
This is a very positive move for both player and club. Newport has a number of skills and qualities and should thrive playing Championship rugby and gaining experience.
A good move
This is a good move for the player because it ties him down to a club where he is likely to get games. Newport will not figure in Bath's plans this season but can develop
his own game by playing regularly for Plymouth.
Newport will get stronger and faster the more he plays competitive rugby. The only way for a young player to develop is to play with and against better players in a competitive
environment.
The club gets a very determined and hungry young player that just wants to play rugby. This means coaches will not need to encourage the young prop in before an important
game. The injuries at Plymouth have forced the move through but it will have a very beneficial impact for the club.
He added: "I want to impress everyone down here and, hopefully, get
a starting spot. I just want people to think I deserve to be here."
Betting advice
Newport plays in a very defensive position. He is unlikely to get forward too often and score a lot of points during a game. Plymouth is not going to contend for promotion
this season. The club sits 11th on the Championship title and will battle for safety all season long.
