1. Try "The Kanji Tutor"

    http://members.aol.com/rtdrpt/kanji/writ...

Gives you the strokes and meanings.

    Example:

    一 Hitotsu - One

    Hitori - One person

    ♡Hope that's what you're looking for.

(*^o^*) Good luck with your kanji!

  2. The order that web site follows is slightly different from the order that Japanese school children learn kanji. Japanese children learn kanji in the A-I-U-E-O (Japanese alphabetical order).

But, even so the groupings seem to be correct, although the Japanese systems works from Level 10 (easiest) to Level 1 (hardest).

If your understanding of hiragana/katakana is pretty good then I would recommend using some kanji study guides written for Japanese young children over any website. Although these books are written in Japanese, they use simple hiragana and katakana so you should be able to work your way through them. Also, it will help improve your reading comprehension and show you how certain characters are used in certain contexts. Trying to learn Kanji by using books (websites) written in English will at some point only slow down your progress.

But, if you are set on using a website then try this Wikipedia page.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanji_kente...

It doesn't have every reading for every Jouyou Kanji, but it's a start.

    Good luck
