  1. Eat some garlic cloves every day! It is a natural strong antibiotic and will cure it! Also gargle with salt water two or three times per day!

  2. well...there is no surefire "cure" for a canker sore because the cause is not actually known. There are some remedies that can assist with the symptoms (pain and irritation).

You can use clove bud essential oil to numb the affected areas. Make sure you cut the oil and DO NOT use it at full strength. If you use the oil at full strength, you are likely to loose your sense of taste for about a week.

It has been suggested that vitamin b-12 can help to prevent them.

  3. WHEN I GET A k****r SORE, I HAVE FOUND THAT IT IS DUE TO TOO MUCH ACID IN MY BODY..SO FOR ME I TAKE A COUPLE OF TUMS A COUPLE OF DAYS AND MY SORE GOES AWAY..HOPE THIS WILL WORK FOR YOU TOO...

  4. lol!  I just developed a wicked canker sore 2 days ago and was searching for this info (on here) and I found this ...

    http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/canker-...

So the verdict is:   there is no cure, you can only treat the symptoms (ie. the pain)...

I've had them in the past, and i've noticed that they have been triggered by minor mouth injuries (this time, I was too aggressive with my toothbrush...and 'poked' my gum... and 3 days later I had a sore!)

I have tried to treat them several ways ...

1.) one friend told me to rub salt on it.  It did feel a bit better over the long-run but GOSH in burned like KRAZY while I was doing it!!! (ie. rubbing salt on a open wound).

2.) others suggested rinsing with salt water ... which didn't help as much as rubbing the salt directly on it.

3.) nowadays I just buy this stuff at the pharmacy.  It's called Kanka (it's found in the toothbrush/floss area).  I has 20% benzocaine and very effeciently numbs the area ... and forms a white-ish protective film over the sore.  You just don't want to use too much because it will numb-up your entire mouth and tongue... and you could accidently bite yourself.  So you just have to be a little careful.   Each application will work for a 4 hours or-so.

Mine will start to improve in 3 days and be better by day 6. (I am at day 2.5 now!)

    hope mom feels better soon!

  5. Get  L-Lysine..it stimulates your immune response take 3 grams in divided doses ...should start to work the same day.  If you have alum in the spice cupboard, make a paste out of it and apply.  Also people with canker sores can be deficient in B vitamins and zinc. So get a B complex also and zinc lozenges to suck on... that'll help kill bacterias in the mouth.   If you're going to the supplement store you can also pick up DGL licorice tablets and make a paste and apply it.
