Kansas City Chiefs QB Brady Quinn ruled out of Week 10 tie against Pittsburgh Steelers – NFL News
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Brady Quinn will not be available for Week 10 game after being ruled out against Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday, November 12, 2012, due to concussion.
Quinn talked with the media on Wednesday, November 07, for the first time since getting a concussion during Week 8 game against Oakland Raiders.
The quarterback acknowledged that he had forced himself to carry on playing after getting a hit from one of Raiders defensive players in that game.
The former first-round pick got the opportunity to play as starter in three years for the first time this season. This is why the player wanted to continue the game despite getting the injury:
According to the Associated Press, Quinn said:
"That's why I tried to stay in the game, because it was the first opportunity for me in a while. I tried to play through it, and that's my fault for not being smart about it."
Soon after coming back on the field, he was sacked by Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain. He also admitted of not seeing McClain coming towards him at that moment.
Quinn will be out for the second week in a row and is desperate to get back to the field. He previously got a concussion during a preseason game against Green Bay Packers.
The quarterback also talked through that injury and said that it was not as dangerous as the current one. Quinn carried on and said:
"It's definitely a thought, because it is the second one this year, and if you come back too soon, before your symptoms calm down, it does involve some risk."
Quinn asserted that there was currently no scheduled timeline for his return. Although he is allowed to do light workout, he is not yet cleared for contact. Talking about Quinn’s injury status, Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel said:
"The doctors themselves don't really know when they'll be clear of concussion symptoms. They test him and when he's clear, and he shows no residual effects, they can say, 'OK, you're cleared.'"
